Alicante is the metropolitan hub of the area with all the attractions of city living - but with beaches as well! Restaurants, night life and sophisticated shopping abound. All the big Spanish department stores are there. Watch the local people going about their life as Alicante is a truly Spanish city, not just for tourists. Nevertheless tourism and day to day life sit easily together in Alicante.

In the winter months shorts and tee shirts are the choice of the tourists as the few degrees drop in temperature signals the opportunity for the locals to wear their finest 'winter clothes' People watching is highly recommended from the comfort of a street café! Take a walk around the plush marina and you will see millions of pounds worth of luxury launches and the majority are Spanish owned!

Alicante Nightlife

The best place to go for nightlife in Alicante is the old centre known as El Barrio. This area is packed with bars, beer cellars and pizza joints. the nice climate makes it comfortable to go out all year long. Due to the enormous amount of bars and cafes this is the city that never sleeps. If elegant pubs and sophisticated restaurants are what you are looking for the area to choose is the modern zone between Explanda and Alfonso El Sabio Street. During the summer months you will find lots of music entertainment on the San Juan beach as well.

Alicante is just fifteen minutes by road from Alenda, or bus or train from Elche. Leave your rural Golf Course living and walk in the city streets, then homre again to your cosy apartment on Alenda.

Hill walking

Further north of Alicante ,and within easy reach of Alenda, are the highest peaks of the Las Marinas hill range and are a favorite amongst the hill walking community and fast becoming a winter season walkers choice rivalling Majorca. Lagos Alenda is also blessed with rugged rolling hill views all around the Golf Course.

Elche and Monforte Del Cid

One of the undiscovered delights of the Costa Blanca is the city of Elche situated 15 minutes from Alenda. Elche was originally an ancient Roman settlement and approximately half the city's surface is dedicated to palm tree parks, which have now been officially recognised as a World Heritage Site.

We can personally recommend the Hotel Millenio Restaurant and Tapas Bar in Elche as well as a whole variety of cuisine.

The old wine growing town of Monforte del Cid is Alenda Golf's neighbour. A very Spanish town steeped in history has taken well over a century to double its population to 6000 people.

Religious festivals are important here and the old hermitage monastry make Monforte del Cid special and only just a few minutes away from the greens and fairways of your golfing paradise.

Aspe

Aspe, a short drive from Alenda Golf, has a population of 16,000 and is a well established community. As a result there are a good selection of shops restaurants and other facilities there. Despite an increased interest in Aspe it still remains unspoilt by tourism; having retained much of its inherent culture and atmosphere. The old town centre is a pleasure to walk through to the central square Plaza del Ayuntamiento, with its interesting church.

Costa Blanca and the beaches.

There are a wide choice of white sandy beaches, which give this Costa its name of 'Blanca', are available within a 15 minute drive (in fact over 20 kilometres of sandy coastline), including Postiguet, El Altet, Arrenales del Sol and San Juan. Benidorm and Terra Mitica Theme park are only a 40 min drive away.

They include Playa Lisa, Calas Santiago Bernabeu, Playa Tamrit, El Pinet, Varadero, Calas Santa Pola del Este, Playa la Gola, Calas de Cabo, Playa Levante and the Gran Playa.

The fishing port of Santa Pola lies in a calm bay with a mild climate and friendly people. It is close by and very easy to drive to from Alenda. There is a beautiful ancient castle in the centre of town and the remains of a Roman Villa complete with mosaic. A must see!
